Buster came to live in our garden in 2001 after being nursed back to health by Mavis Righini, he had had his nose chopped off by a strimmer in a horrendous garden accident. Mavis called him Buster because he was so unhappy in captivity he kept “busting” out of his cage. Because of his injury we thought he would only survive a few months in our garden but as he was so desperate to escape from his cage it would be a much better quality of life if only for a short time. In the end he lived with us until March 2003 and was very happy roaming in our garden. He developed an infection and although treated with antibiotics he died in his sleep. Please always
make sure you check for hedgehogs before cutting long grass, lighting
bonfires and using strimmers etc. in your garden! |
